Update: What’s the Difference Between the Funtainer and Foogo?

I just returned from the ABC Kids Expo where I flitted around schmoozing and snapping up the inside scoop on upcoming baby feeding gear.

One product that caught my eye immediately was the newly upgraded Funtainer line.  I’ve always been a fan of the indestructable Funtainer, but one question I often hear is, “Can’t I just buy a Funtainer for my baby?”  The answer has always been NO – until now . . .

Thermos has done it again – they read my mind and created a hybrid Funtainer/Foogo straw assembly!  This means there is no longer a small straw piece attached to the outside of the Funtainer just waiting to be pulled off by your toddler.  The straw and base is a one-piece design, just like Foogo – so the Funtainer is no longer off limits to Little Ones, and busy parents have one – make that two – less pieces to keep track of – I just noticed that the Funtainer no longer needs a washer!

The new Funtainer isn’t available just yet, but will be soon.  It will be easily identifiable by the oval push-button (compared to the rectangle).  We’ll update this blog post as soon as we have a specific ETA.

P.S.  If you’re like me, you actually sneak around with a Foogo straw bottle or Funtainer for yourself . . .   Well, Thermos has created a solution to this embarrassing little dilemma and will be introducing a grown up straw bottle for us!  They come in fabulous patterns and vivid colors to boot.

Just a note though... Make sure you little ones don't throw them around. My 6 1/2 year old son threw his lunch bag, with his Funtainer in it and the cap broke, causing it to leak all over his lunch bag and backpack. Sadly, the caps are not indestructible....

I didn't know the original version but I bought one of those new models (like the one on the top picture) at Target in August (a Hello Kitty one ;-)) so they are available for sale! :-) I haven't seen them since back-to-school though, unfortunately since I wanted one for my son too!... :-(
