What the Heck is a Silicone Bottle?
Over the last year we’ve witnessed a rapid move away from toxic plastic toward BPA-free plastic and glass bottles with added protective silicone covers. Well, what would happen if we skipped the glass and went straight for the silicone?
No plastic, no glass, just silicone? Very interesting.
Can you picture it? Don’t worry - it eluded me too until I actually held it in my hands at the ABC Kids Expo.
- The body of the bottle is 100% flexible, heat durable silicone.
- Because of its flexibility, the silicone body needs a little support. This is where the BPA-free plastic exo-skeleton comes in - it is placed over the neck and shoulders of the bottle.
- The bottle collar is also made from plastic and screws onto the firm exo-skeleton just like a normal bottle would.
- A silicone nipple fits into the bottle ring and a travel cap snaps on just like normal too. So the only touching the baby’s milk is silicone.
