New Glass Baby Bottle Options Abound

The demand for safe alternatives to toxic plastic has spurred an increase in glass baby bottle choices. Even companies well-known for their plastic baby bottles, like Munchkin and Medela, are branching out. About a year ago, when the movement away from BPA began, parents were hard pressed to find anything but standard Evenflo glass bottles. Now, a short time later, Evenflo has also stepped up with a modern version of their old standby – protective cover and all.
The following glass bottles are new to the market and are now available, giving parents even more great non-plastic choices:

Sweet Pea Glass Bottle with Neoprene Cover - available in 5oz and 9oz

Medela Glass Bottles - available in 4oz and 8oz

I use the regular glass Momo bottles with my triplets and adore them! I have tried an assortment of plastic bottles (including BPA-free ones) and wish I had gone with glass from the start.
We’ve used the basic Evenflo glass bottles since the get-go with our 21 month old. Thank you Evenflo for offering glass bottles that never broke–even when chucked across the room by the munchkin.
This is great news. I used the most basic Evenflo glass bottles for 8 months and they were fine. As the baby drank more, we switched to Born Free so he can grab the bottles by himself.
Do you know where the Medela glass 8oz will be available and if they are compatible with the smaller plastic medela bottle nipples and rings?
Great news about more options!!
Do you know when the Evenflo bottles with the sleeves will be available? Will you be selling them here?
I looked them up but can’t find them anywhere online.
Thanks!
the evenflo with sleeves are already at walmart…does anyone know when the momo glass bottles will be out and where
Hi Christa,
The Momo bottles and sleeves are available at our store here.
We’ll also have the Evenflo sleeves by the end of January

Alicia-
Will you be getting in the Sweet Pea bottles? I could only find them in Canada and prefer not to pay all that shipping!
Thanks-
Kelly
I just started using Munchkin glass bottles with my 7 1/2 month old and we absolutely love them!!! I wish they had been available from the beginning we had been using evenflo plastic bottles because they seemed to be the only kind she liked and I had gotten so sick of the leaking that I was desperate to find something else. These are definately my favorites and they’re so pretty!
Hi Marika, from sweet pea here. Actually we are available in the US. , we are currently shipping to stores, as well you can order from our website, our prices are for US shipping as well!! We are proud to be the original Neoprene bottle cover!
Hi Marika,
Thanks for stopping by to let us know Sweet Pea is now available in the U.S. I’ve searched high and low and still haven’t been able to locate them here – can you point us in the right direction?
Thanks Alicia
Also check out the stylish options from babylife — http://www.gobabylife.com. They have 4oz and 9oz glass bottles with (optional) silicone covers… I haven’t tried them myself yet, though, so can’t comment re leakage.
I was wondering if there are any covers that fit the new Medela glass bottles in the 4 oz. size yet. I picked up some Munchkin covers but they didn’t fit properly. Will the Siliskin ones fit or maybe the Evenflo covers? I love that the Medela is compatible with the breast pumps for storage purposes, but am terrified about breaking them. Thanks!
Hi Hilary,
We’ve tried the Evenflo Cozy Covers with most regular neck bottles and it fits well. They’re easy to apply and are nice and stretchy.
Also, the Siliskin large universal standard covers fit the 8oz Medela bottles, so the small size may fit the 4oz Medela bottles as well.
Any input/suggestions from our other readers??

Its good to see that many more companies are going this route to cut down on the use of plastics and keep their kids healthy. I like the different bottle protectors as well.
With a growing concern over a chemical used to make plastic bottles called bisphenol A, a number of parents are turning to glass baby bottles. This bisphenol A is a real problem and I am so glad there is a return to glass baby bottles!
I love glass baby bottles and am so glad to see that they are making a comeback. I love the WeeGo bottles – they're so cute, but really expensive, unfortunately. Of course, they last forever…

Hi Corrie,
We weren’t sure that they would be available separately, but just heard from Evenflo they will be! We will be adding them to our store within the month (assuming Evenflo has them ready to ship soon).
Alicia
Hi Sarah,
That’s a great question! We haven’t confirmed it with Medela, but from what we can tell – the glass bottles are just a standard neck and should work with their original standard neck collar/nipples.
Alicia
Hi Kelly,
The Sweet Pea bottles aren’t yet available in the U.S. so we won’t likely be adding them for a while (if at all – I’m not sure what their plans on for U.S. distribution). An alternative to the Sweet Pea bottles is the new Momo wide neck bottles with a neoprene Hugger. They’ve turned out to be a hit with our customers. The bottles are made from borosilicate glass, which is well-known for its superior durability, chemical, heat and shatter resistance. The Huggers also work with so many other bottles and sippy cups (like the Klean Kanteen sippy), making them a versatile and affordable option.

Hi Amanda,
We can’t wait to get our hands on the new glass Munchkin bottles too! They’re not yet available around here . . .
Thanks for sharing your experience with us,
Alicia
