Things From Your Wedding Reception You Can Use After Your Big Day

Your wedding is supposed to be the happiest day of your life. After all your meticulous planning, it is likely to go off in a spectacular event that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Some people, however, begin to feel a bit blue after their big day is over and done with. This is not uncommon as the build up to the day often drops steeply once the “I do’s” have been said and the wedding cake has been cut. While you will be wearing your tungsten wedding ring for years to come, many of the other items and decorations purchased for your big day often get thrown out leaving only photos behind.

Fear not though, you can cut your wedding blues in half by utilizing some of the wonderful items you created in your home. Not only will it remind you of the special moments you shared with your beloved, but it will also help you decorate your home.

1. Frame the Dress

The wedding gown is, in many ways, the star of the show, so it would only seem fitting for it to be the star of your home, too. Many preservation companies now offer framing services. They will take your gorgeous gown and frame it for hanging. This is a great piece of decor for a walk-in closet, or even a home office. Don’t be afraid to show off the beauty of your dress long after your wedding has gone.

2. Press Your Flowers into a Memory Box

You probably spent ages looking at flowers and picking the perfect colors to accent your theme, so it seems like a waste for all those gorgeous flowers to be tossed out after the ceremony. You can take your bouquet and the boutonniere and have them pressed into a memory box. They make for a great pop of color in a living room, or hanging in an entry hall.

3. Use Table Candles For Special Dinners Together

If you were someone who loved the ideas of votive candles on your guests’ tables, then you can utilize them throughout your married life. After the ceremony is gone pack up the candles and take them home with you. You can store them indefinitely and pull them out for special occasions, like romantic dinners, or holidays. Not only will you be reminded of your wedding day, but you’ll also put to use something that would otherwise be thrown away.

4. Use The Vases To Add a Color Around Your Home

You probably purchased vases to hold your centerpieces. There is no reason for them to go to waste. Not only can you give some to family members, like each of your parents, but you can take them home and spread them around your new house. They can be used to add decor to the home, whether you choose to fill them with fresh flowers, stones, or even fruit. Put one in each room. Each time you enter a new room in your house, you’ll be greeted with a pop of color, and memories of your special day.

5. Create a Collage With Your Invites and Save the Date Cards

You’ll likely have left over invitations and cards from your wedding, so why not use them as part of your home decor? If you are crafty you can create a collage in a shadow box, or buy a multiple frame picture frame for displaying them. This will look great in the bedroom, or by your stairs. In fact, you can use them in just about any room. You can do the same with the wooden letters you used as decor, or special signs you created for your wedding day. They will add a touch of whimsy to your home.

Wedding planning is a long, involved, and sometimes stressful, process, but it all pays off in the end. While the day of your dreams might be over and done with, the memories will last a lifetime. There is no better way to remember that special event than by re-purposing your wedding goods into decor in your first home as man and wife.
