There’s Hope for the Environment Because of the Next Generation
When you look at what’s going on around you, it might be easy to feel disheartened. The moment you realize that big companies couldn’t care less how they make profits or when people keep claiming that global warming isn’t real, you might think it’s over. The environment is on its path to permanent damage. However, you can also look at it from a different perspective. By seeing the problem through the eyes of the next generation, you will realize that there’s hope.
Children are taking the lead
Although it’s unfortunate that children have to take action because adults are irresponsible, you will also feel good about it. You know that they understand what’s going on and they’re taking action in the right direction. You might even hear about Greta Thunberg, a teenager who leads the fight against climate change. She already angered several leaders because of her actions. Nevertheless, she is making a splash, and she is inspiring a new generation of leaders to follow in her footsteps.
They’re willing to learn
Several schools are taking actions to fight global warming. They include environmental issues in the academic curriculum. They also institute changes in garbage disposal. The good thing is that children are willing to learn and follow the rules. As such, you also have to make these changes at home. It helps if you can teach more lessons to your kids to extend what they learn from school. For instance, if the school teaches proper garbage segregation, you need to do the same. You can even partner with a trash collection company like those providing junk hauling in St Louis and show your kids how they do it. You will find it easier to teach lessons on environmental protection and other essential values when you walk the talk.
You have to feel guilty
If you see that children are doing the right thing, you might feel guilty as an adult. You can’t leave the problem as it is. If children are smart enough to understand that we have to do something, you have to think the same way.
The good thing is that it’s not yet too late for you to change your ways. You can start making changes at home now. You can also continue these actions anywhere you go.
Support the children
These kids are taking the lead because they know it’s their future at stake. Therefore, you have to support them in this endeavor. Make them feel that they’re doing what’s right and they have to continue it. Tell them that there will be detractors along the way, but they can’t give up the fight. Apologize for how your generation wasted the environment, and be grateful that they’re moving in the right direction.
You can’t keep things the same way. Changes need to happen soon, or it will be too late. Scientists already warned us that we only have a few years left. If we don’t take quick action, even the efforts made by the children won’t be enough.
